Inductive Proximity Sensors for Ex-applications
Intrinsically safe Inductive Proximity Switch
An inductive proximity switch works with a high frequency oscillating circuit that creates an alternating electromagnetic field on the active sensor surface by means of a coil. When a metallic object nears this field a damping occurs in the oscillating circuit. If this damping exceeds a threshold value, a switching signal is generated. Inductive proximity switches from EGE switch contactlessly when metal objects approach. They are used for presence monitoring, position and motion monitoring, counting objects and speed control on conveyor belts, for example. Thanks to their unique technology, quality and service life, detection tasks can be designed that cannot be implemented using conventional inductive proximity switches - even under difficult operating conditions. Proximity switches from EGE reduce maintenance costs and significantly increase system availability.
